On a conference call yesterday, a National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) committee has found indicators that the major U.S. recession last around 18 months- beginning December 2007 to June 2009. They found that the U.S. economy experienced a “trough” in business activity in 2009 around the month of June indicating the end of a recession.
The 18 month U.S. recession is the longest on record since World War II by surpassing the previous recessions of 16 months both in 1973-75 and 1981-82.
